INTRO OF GUESTS & MEMBERS: Members & guests introduced themselves and
described what they drove.
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE: Mark & Emily are in Mexico so Richard conducted the
meeting.
VICE PRESIDENTS MESSAGE: Richard has attended a couple of runs. He has
been busy doing jeep work in his shop.
TREASURERS REPORT: Mike is not present tonight but called with the bank
balance of $1348.72. Ron pointed out that we need to pay two bills. A
bill of $536.25 for the decals and $60.85 for the signs for the car
show. A total of $597.10. It was moved and seconded to pay these bills.
Ron will pass this information on to Mike.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Gigi was not present tonight so Carol is doing the
minutes.
MEMBERSHIP: Gary passed on information to some interested parties. No
new members have signed in. Laura & David encountered a pick up, from
San Jose, stuck in the snow and he was interested in the club. Tonight
Mason Leach is eligible to become a member. He was sent out of the room
and since no one could think of anything bad to say about him he was
voted in unanimously.
DELEGATE AND LAND USE: Del and Stacie have been everywhere. It seems
there have been lots of new district rangers being appointed. Del has
been kissing up, I mean conversing with them. The Rubicon is going well.
June 30th is a bid deal, BF Goodrich is giving a grant to the trail and
having a dinner and prizes. The Rubicon has made it big. Blue Ribbon
celebrated their 20th anniversary. Stacie handed out copies of the
magazine and some information. Del also has a contact with Crawl
magazine. Pegi told us there is to be a big meeting in West Point
regarding land use. She thinks it is June 23rd. She will check on the
date and it will be put on the web.
CORRESPONDENCE: Sierra Trek is asking for donations. A thank you from
Blue Ribbon for our $250.00 donation. The oil program we participated in
is being audited. They want us to sign papers stating we knew we were
donating money back to the oil program. No one present tonight seems to
remember this being part of the program. Tami will be contacted to see
if she remembers anything about this. Blue Ribbon magazine was received
in the mail.
OLD BUSINESS: 4 Wheel Parts has received a letter from troops in Iraq
regarding lights needed on their vehicles. 4 Wheel will give a 50%
discount on lights if our club is interested in participating in helping
out. After discussion about cost and questions regarding if this was a
legitimate program it was decided to help. Donation from the members
came as follows: Richard Yeargan $100.00, David & Laura Blake on behalf
of 3rd Generation Heating & Air $100.00, Bob Edmondson $100.00, Bob
Shields $50.00, Gary & Carol Pearson $50.00, Mason Leach $50.00, Larry &
Carol Whitehead $20.00, Eric Kokernak $20.00, Pegi & Rich Hughes $20.00,
Ken Ketterling $20.00, Dave Langelier $10.00 for a total of $540.00.
This will outfit 3 vehicles. It was voted, moved by Laura seconded by
Bob Edmondson to donate $50.00 to the Voyager program.
NEW BUSINESS: Guest John Vinal spoke to us about an event to benefit the
Calaveras County Search and Rescue. They are having a Slick Rock Poker
Run on July 14th. For more information call John Vinal 209-795-9444.
Buddy talked about the Demo Derby at the Amador Fair. Participating
vehicles are limited to 8. He needs the names of drivers and chain men.
He is trying to get passes to the derby for families.
PAST RUNS: The Les Schwab Car Show was a success. We had 41 vehicles at
the event. Ron thanked all who participated. Ron thought bigger signs at
the event would help and any suggestions on how to make it better are
welcomed. Walker River Run - Bob said on one of the runs they were about
8500 feet up and saw some very scenic views. They saw antelope, a sheep
camp w/donkey and guarded by a dog, wild horses and beautiful meadows.
This run took about 7 hours but was worth it. Erik went to Bronco Canyon
with Glenn and Mike Mole'. They had a good time and the winter has
changed the trail some. Ron went to the Winnemucca Sand Dunes. There
were about 15 families. They dunes were steeper this year and they were
some injuries.
FUTURE RUNS: Adopt a trail is Saturday June 9th; leave Amador Station at
8:00 am. The Forest Service will be joining us. They would like the club
to put in a new gate. Kids on the Rock is June 23rd, Air Port Flat is
June 30th, Rubicon on July 11th through 13th, and the Dusy Ershim Trail
August 4th through 11th.
Having no further business, meeting adjourned at 9:20.
Respectfully submitted by Carol Whitehead
