PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:  Ron didn’t make the cancer walk.  They are still in the moving mode and getting organized.

VICE PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:  Mike has been working on his rig, has had some tie rod problems. Other than that it has been quiet.

TREASURERS REPORT:  The balance is $760.28.  New member’s dues of $80.00 bring the balance up to $840.28.  Money owed $41.00 to Pete and Karen for supplies for face painting at cancer walk.  Judy will pay this as soon as she gets the bill.  After payment balance will be $649.28.

SECRETARYS REPORT:  Last months minutes stand with no corrections or additions.  A request was made by email for one of our club shirts to add to a t-shirt collection.  It was discussed and denied.  Only club members are to wear our shirts.  I will email this person and let them know.

MEMBERSHIP:  Gary has talked to a lot of people, some have visited our meetings.  We had eleven guests at last months meeting.  At present we have 33 families as members.

DELEGATE AND LAND USE:  Del is not present tonight; he is in Utah at present.  It was suggested that someone attend the North district meeting on Saturday, October 7th in Sacramento.

CORRESPONDENCE:  We received; Low Range Magazine, El Dorado project newsletter update.  Information on the North District meeting, Cal 4 Wheel magazine, USDA information, Information on the Cal. Assn. Convention in Reno on February 16 – 18th, Blue Ribbon Magazine.  A reminder that there are still products on sale at Ron’s business if anyone is interested in buying.  The logo is still being worked on.

OLD BUSINESS:  Richard reported on the Walk a Thon.  Richard pulled his trailer to the campus for those who needed a place to sleep or relax.  The club did face painting at our booth.  The club as a whole raised approximately $500.00.  The total raised at the event this year - $93,000.00.  Richard would like to see more people from the club get involved next year.  A nice breakfast was served, dinner and pizza for a night snack.  The Luminary ceremony was very moving.  Many names were recognized by the members as they were read during the ceremony.

Car show; Ron  talked to Mike at Les Schwab and the club agreed to postpone this event till the 1 year anniversary of Les Schwab in Jackson next year in the spring.

OLD BUSINESS:  Richard attended a meeting for the Winter Fun Fest.  It will be their 25th anniversary.  Cal 4 Wheel wanted a set down dinner.  Richard emailed them and said we could not serve that many at a set down dinner.  They have agreed to the food line again.  They would like someone to buss tables and they would like the club to come up with a theme for the event.  They are willing to pay for decorations.  Winter Fun Fest is January 12 – 14th.  You do not have to be a member of Cal 4 Wheel to help with the meal but you must be a member to go on the trails.

FUTURE RUNS:  October 14th with the Forest Service.  October 21st Bronco Canyon meet at Denny’s at 9:00 am.  October 22nd El Dorado Canyon, leave Pinion Plaza in Carson City at 8:45 am for El Dorado Canyon.  Thanksgiving – Olema Ranch, Dillon Beach and Glamis for Ron Thanksgiving week.  December 2nd toy run at Nimbus Dam.  December 9th Christmas Party at Richards, bring a gift (men bring for men; women bring for women with a $20.00 limit on gifts.  If you have children, bring a gift for them.).  Members would like to do a snow run and we will talk about it at the next meeting.

PAST RUNS:  Richard talked about the Forest Service Field trip on September 30th.  It was a good time.  There was a 1 ˝ hour meeting prior to the trail run.  They assured us the Portal Gap road would be reopened.  Quad  people are still going to have problems.  The Plassas road is closed and may never open, they possibly will open a new route.  Cabin owners are not happy about the dust, illegal parking and robberies of their cabins.  Paving would help and move staging area.  Forest Service would like us to get involved with the funding group.  They would like our group to be more visible and more vocal.  Problem is who has the time to spend on the trail all the time?

Meeting adjourned at 8:52 pm.  Next meeting November 2nd at 7:30 pm.

Respectfully submitted, Carol Whitehead
