PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:
Newly elected President, Ron Delaney welcomed the new officers for 2006.
They each introduced themselves and what position they held. Ron then
had members and guests introduce themselves and what they drive. Guests
Bob Eilenberger drives a 1958 MB3 and Dave drives a 01 TJ Rooky.
Ron said he has not been doing anything much except for spending 8 hours
per day in a very cold place recently.
VICE PRESIDENTS MESSAGE: Mike Mole’ told us he and Sally finally moved
into their remolded house. He went to PiPi Valley for a run because they
did not get enough snow at the Winter Fun Fest. Alan and Dana went also.
TREASURERS REPORT: Judy was not present but sent an email to Ron on the
club money.
Starting cash $742.59
Reimbursement to Gareth 115.76
Blue Ribbon Dues 250.00
$378.83
Member’s dues paid 735.00
Balance $1,111.85
Some members still owe their dues which were due in January. A motion
was made by Pooba and seconded by Gary Pearson to give Mike Stoller
membership for keeping our web site up to date. Motion passed
unanimously. Judy also wanted to know if a debit card Mark had received
for the club could be destroyed since she did not see a need for it. It
will be destroyed.
SECRETARYS REPORT: Carol asked if it was necessary to keep the hard
copies of the last year’s minutes. Ron said he would like to have them
MEMBERSHIP: Gary is still figuring out what to do. Ron said the most
important part is to keep in touch with the members.
DELEGATE AND LAND USE: Del is attending a meeting in Sacramento. It
seems the OHB Commission is falling apart. Law suits have been filed
against them. Some proposals have been worked up about permits for the
Rubicon trail. Possible have enforcement by law or paid people on the
trails. They haven’t decided where permits will be obtained yet and how
this will be paid for. “Pay to use the trail?”
Del attended the Off Road Show and now he has nine sponsors for his jeep
repair. He is still borrowing a jeep to get on the trails.
CORRESPONDENCE: Mark has some Sierra Club information to pass around. It
seems he is on their mailing list. Ron had the Engear magazine and a
magazine from Stoner, yes Stoner, they sell parts.
OLD BUSINESS: Mike Mole’ reported on the Winter Fun Fest. The snow was
very deep. They went as far as they could on trails. Luckily they were
put at the front of the trail since they were cooking and serving dinner
and everyone wanted them to get back early. They think they served about
550 people. Since they did not have enough members to help it was fast
and furious especially cleanup. We really need to have more members turn
out to help. Part of the problem of participation is you must be a
member of Cal 4 Wheel to attend. Not all our members are members of Cal
4 Wheel. Ron said that might change. Cal 4 Wheel is considering a
temporary membership so more can attend some functions at a moderate
rate for that event only. Consensus is this will not pass at the
convention. Some club functions are too expensive. Don won a raffle but
he was working and could not go get it so they re drew again and he lost
it. Usually they save the prizes so they can be collected later if
necessary. Del sang and raised $300.00 and donated it to the
association.
Old business Ron would like to take care of is: Don’s separation letter
has never been finished. Can it be done by the April meeting? Don said
yes. Ron said he has never finished welcoming packets and he will do so.
NEW BUSINESS: There was some discussion on new T shirts, decals and
hitches. A paper was passed around for ideas for this year.
Theme Runs: Sweetheart breakfast (held 2/12 at the Waffle Shop in
Jackson. Mike and Alan will have a run after) Other themes – Powder Puff
(ladies will do the driving- secretary panicked at this option) Luau,
Western and/or Mexican theme at some of our other outings.
Raffle prizes @ meetings and runs: 50/50 prize, only one $1.00 ticket
per member meeting or event. We started it tonight. There was $20.00 in
the pot and Gary Pearson won $10.00. The extra $10.00 will buy a gift
for the next meeting and will be given to the winner along with one half
of the pot.
Long range trip plans: Set up future dates as far as possible so members
can plan.
Trip sign up importance: It is very important for trail bosses to know
how many are attending events so they can plan. Everyone please try
harder.
Online meeting agenda: Mike Stoller will try to post at least 2 weeks
before event.
Kids activities: After our trail rides with the kids in the jeep all day
it would be nice to have something for them – scavenger hunt, games,
outdoor learning, trail safety, fire safety, tool safety, learning to
use a compass.
BBQ Trailer: There was a discussion on whether or not to make, buy a BBQ
trailer to be used at our functions. Yes/No, funding, possible rental,
donations?????
Adopt a trail/ Silver Lake/Bear River/Hwy 4: Make them mandatory or give
up. We need better showings at these events.
Novice Training Day: August 12, 2006.
4WD Vehicle Show: The club was approached by the new Les Scwab in
Jackson about putting on a show. October was suggested.
Community Awareness: PR- newspaper articles, booths at the fairs
Amador/Calaveras, fundraisers-yard sale at Ron’s, starting April try to
drive your 4wheeler to the meetings to be more visible to the community.
