Meeting convened at 7:30 pm.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: Greg DeGeorge and Deborah Pulskamp were present.
Greg has been on one run, the Ione parade.
PRESIDENTS REPORT: Richard has been very busy with his business. A thank
you to Wes for spending money in his shop. Richard said he has seen a
lot of Dodges lately with transmission trouble. He has his garage doors
on at his home, and a thank you to Gareth for helping him in his shop.
Richard said his In Gear magazine was really late this month. He just
received the June issue. He pointed out that Trina has her picture in
the June issue.
VICE PRESIDENTS REPORT: Trina said she had not been wheeling much last
month. She has been busy learning maintenance on her jeep. Trina will be
going to Niagara Rim on Saturday if anyone would like to go.
TREASURERS REPORT: Mark stated that the bank says we have $922.79 but he
has $35.00 less. It must be a membership that is not accounted for, he
will check it out.
SECRETARYS REPORT: The minutes did not go through for Mike to put on the
web so the minutes were moved by Mike and seconded by Sally and accepted
as unread.
MEMBERSHIP: Ron said he has had lots of people looking at our web site
and membership. He had an email from Ron Elliott looking for and active
family type club, but he is not here tonight. Greg is back for more.
Several have checked us out but not returned.
DELEGATE REPORT/LAND USE AND & CONSERVATION: Del introduced Staci and
Jessica. Del said there were 400 rigs on the Rubicon trail during the
4th of July. The trail was still wet but due able. The work that has
been done to the trail has held up well. In the El Dorado law suit, both
sides are claiming victory. The forest service is madly going out to
close any trail not on the map or not marked. Richard stated that our
trail is on the topo map. Del said some work has been done on the kiosk.
Del and Staci will be married on the Rubicon on August 20.
CORRESPONDENCE: Ron has received the June In Gear also. He has received
tickets for a raffle for a jeep trailer. We received a check for $152.00
from the road patrol. Pro Comp has a recall on suspension front ball
joints. Cal 4 Wheel member packets for several members arrived and will
be given out. The roster for the Cal 4 Wheel was read along with a thank
you. Off Road was received, mail for Del and a copy of what the oil
grant went for. Blue ribbon for June and July was received.
OLD BUSINESS: Ron has 5 hitch plugs left and asked if the club would
reimburse him for the expense. It was moved and seconded and passed to
reimburse Ron.
NEW BUSINESS: The ranger was emailed about our trail but we did not
receive any response. It may not be ready to open in the near future
because of the snow. The lateness of opening the trail is causing
scheduling problems with training day. Training day was tabled till we
received more information. A new ranger is looking for help in clean up
by Silver Lake. Is the club interested? Richard will contact the ranger
to see when might be a good time. Buddy is waiting for information on
the Derby when he gets it he will pass it on.
PAST RUNS: Forest City – It was Mark’s run but, Mark spent the weekend
with cocktails. The ranger we had contact with was on a fire and not
available. We could not get maps, the camping site we were told about
had a hole in a pallet over a hole in the ground for the toilet covered
by a weathered blue tarp, and it was also littered with trash. The site
was big enough for tents only. Gareth and Carol raided the ranger
station and obtained some maps. Richard and Gareth found a nice spot on
a ridge where we fit nicely. Kids on the Rock – Gary and Buddy attended.
Gary had 3 teenage girls to drive around. He had a grand time. Buddy
almost rolled. About 30 – 40 jeeps showed up to drive the kids.
Staci and Del went with Scott to Middle Gate and found a neat town to
explore. It reminded Del of Bodie, NV but with people still living
there. Del was having a peaceful time till he had to play cop.
FUTURE RUNS: Adopt a Trail will happen sometime. Maybe do some cleanup
in Round Valley then do Slick Rock on August 13, Ron will be trail boss.
August 20 Rubicon work day, August 27 Barrett Lake overnight, Trina is
still getting information for us. Labor Day at Hope Valley. Dillon Beach
on Thanksgiving maybe or Clear Creek with Gary, Doran Beach Christmas
and New Years.
In October Wes will take us somewhere.
COMMENTS: There being no comments the meeting was adjourned at 8:53.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Ann Whitehead |
