INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: Russ who owns a TJ, he has lived in the area for 15 years and his wife has told him to find a club to have fun with, she is not thrilled about jeeping.

Members introduced themselves and what they drove and any office they held.

Debra and Mike Postcamp arrived who had been to our meeting before. None of their vehicles are running at present.

PRESIDENTS REPORT: He and Gigi attended Winter Fun Fest and have been working on their garage. They are getting close to being done.

VICE PRESIDENTS REPORT: Trina attended Winter Fun Fest and also went to Richards’s shop and learned some things about her jeep.

TREASURERS REPORT: Mark gave a starting balance of $1,070.79. Warren and Janice sent in their dues bringing it up to $1,105.79. Mark paid United 4Wheel Drive Association leaving a balance of $855.79. All dues still have not been paid. Should we carry them? After discussion, it was decided to carry them over.

SECRETARY REPORT: A copy of the last meeting minutes were available for any one to read. Minutes were approved.

MEMBERSHIP: Ron had a conversation with Dennis who was interested in the club. He is checking out clubs and is very interested the MLRC. Another man from Sutter Creek, Stephano, was interested also.

New interested parties arrived; it was Stephano and a friend visiting from Atlanta. Stephano has a Land Rover.

Buddy arrived and was welcomed with “Have you paid your dues?” Buddy needed to leave but wanted to say he will be gone till July. He is going to be gone to Paramedic school till July so he will not be available. Richard gave a Poohbah and told Buddy to forget about dues. Buddy will try to keep in contact about the Derby. Richard said he can have someone else do it for one year only.

Back to membership – Ron gave information on our web site for visitors, when the club was founded; qualifications to become a member and dues, new members are $40.00 then after are $35.00.

DELEGATE/LAND USE & CONSERVATION: Del is attending the convention this weekend and has been told to vote however he feels.

CORRESPONDENCE: Mark – The Jeepers Jamboree was passed around, some Rubicon trips listed in it. Don – There is a large auction in Tracy with several Rubicon’s available, last year’s models and $13,000. Some need body work but are basically low mileage. Ron – Off Road Magazine was passed around. Info from EL Dorado National Forest that goes to Del. Richard asked where we stand on the trail survey and it is believed that the deadline has passed. Blue Ribbon Magazine and Willie Jeep Parts book from Arizona was passed around. Blue Ribbon sent a thank you for the donation of $400.00 from the club. They have given the club the Bronze Designation for the donation. Should we request the certificate and display it on our wall of fame? Yes by the group. There was a letter addressed to Mark regarding 640 acres available in Niland, California for only $150,000. It is next to the dump. Maybe Mark will buy it for the club to use. The Off Road Rumble (form Colorado) is looking for investors to help fund the goodies he is selling. An invitation was received from the Capitol City Mountain Goats hoe down, cost $28.00, dance, movies from the 60”s and 70’s.

OLD BUSINESS: Is the car show still happening? Yes, Sunday May 15 at Prospect Motors. Richard asked how welcome letters and members packets were coming. Don said he hadn’t done anything yet. Ron has packets from 1990 and he will elaborate on them.

NEW BUSINESS: Vehicle inspection day – Richard will let us use his shop. We can set a date for a weekend, March 19th looks good, and sign up on the web. If there is a lot of interest, he will do it both Saturday and Sunday. We can have pot luck if there is enough interest. Basic requirements for the club will be checked, medical cards and proof of insurance as well as mechanical problems.

Memorial Day – Hollister? Walker River? Winnemucca? Elko? 3 days is a short time for some to go far. Perhaps we will have 2 runs and members can take their choice. Maybe Winnemucca and Walker River. The hot springs were discussed. Allan can bring his speed o.

July 4 – Forest City (Grass Valley area). We have been invited to camp in a section of the forest, could rent the hall if we wanted for pot luck. Reasonable rates.

Trina proposed a run to Barrette Lake (by Rubicon) on August 27.

Pete suggested Prairie City and mess around since the snow is going to last for a while up country. Maybe Saturday, April 23.

Keep end of July open for adopt a trail. Forest Service is going to call regarding helping to clean up after last years fire by our adopt a trail.

PAST RUNS: Winter Fun Fest – many went – the run was boring after doing it three times without the extreme run we could try intermediate run or bail out early or serve a different dinner. Dinner was a blast. Ron and Richard were able to park their trailers in the back. About 580 were served. Dinner crew was well lubed. Del raised $340.00 singing, this was donated to Cal 4Wheel.

Pete went on a snow run in the Astro Van to PiPi Valley. Almost didn’t get out. He found out later he was only in 2 wheel drive 4 wheel was gone. Jeep following behind him annoyed him, turned out to be Buddy.

Sally, Mike and Allan smoked their way to PiPi where Allan shoveled, and then shoveled, and shoveled some more while Sally stayed warm in the smoker.

FUTURE RUNS: Topaz is this weekend. Mark will be trail boss. He will put Jerry on point.
Picture day – was talked about already.

Next meeting, March 3, will be classroom education on how to wheel.

Ron won a prize at the Winter Fun Fest; he won a ticket to the Jeepers Jamboree. Ron will give it to any one who would like it but the catch is you have to buy a second one. There must be 2 in every jeep and the tickets are pretty pricey.

Shirts and hats are available and Ron has ordered more trailer receivers.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:56.

Respectfully submitted,
Carol Ann Whitehead
