Meeting convened at 7:37 pm

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: Greg came back.

PRESIDENTS REPORT: Richard is still cleaning rental. He went on a Dillon run because of the heat. No progress on the garage. After the derby it took him four hours to get the mud off his jeep.

VICE PRESIDENTS REPORT: Trina has been wheeling a lot. She has been meeting new people. She has been to Niagara Rim, Chambers Lake, a wedding and the Demo Derby. Next weekend she is going on the Sierra Trek.

TREASURERS REPORT: The treasurer was not present so we assume we still have money.

SECRETARYS REPORT: Was accepted.

MEMBERSHIP: Ron had two enquiries; Del handled one of them because Ron was gone. One called the office and Ron returned the call but he did not show up tonight. Richard handed out some booklets and Cal 4 Wheel information was passed around.

DELEGATE REPORT/LAND USE AND CONSERVATION: Del was in the Sacramento Bee, he slammed the forest service. They are closing about 700 miles of trail. His quote was “Shame on the Forest Service, if it wasn’t for volunteers, nothing would be done”. Can’t pull off trails at all, you will be ticketed if you do. You would have to park on roads in the way of traffic. There is a big sign up for the Rubicon work day. On October 15, the forest service is having a big celebration. If you are not doing anything it might be interesting to go to the Sonora Fair Grounds.

CORRESPONDENCE: Blue Ribbon, Off Road, In Gear magazines were passed around. We received an invitation to Amador Ranger Station on Saturday. Most of the correspondence was for Del. Ron read some reconstruction information.

OLD BUSINESS: The US Forest Service inventory, our deadline is September 1st. Tahoe deadline is September 30th. Non designated trails will be lost. We will loose part of our trail for two years. It will be difficult for the Forest Service to enforce these rules. There could be a fine of $400.00 - $500.00 if caught on undesignated trails.

NEW BUSINESS: Hope Valley 9/2 to 9/5. It was moved and seconded to move the September meeting to September 4th during the Pot Luck at Hope Valley. Motion was defeated. It was moved and seconded to move the September meeting to September 8. Motion passed. The schedule for Hope Valley is as follows: Friday – night run to Barney Riley, Saturday – Sweetwater, Sunday – Deer Valley, Monday – Fake Rubicon & Sweetwater. Alan will get the meat for our Pot Luck (this could be scary).

PAST RUNS: July 29 – Adopt a Trail was a spur of the moment run. Apparently there were people on it on July 4th. There were a lot of by passes already. Gareth took a party, they cut trees that were down (maybe 10 spots) and put them over the by passes to block them. There was almost no trash. Gareth met Richard at Mud Lake turn off. Richard, Sally and Mike did not find trash either. No terrorists were found. Lower trail party went out Portal Gap. There was just a little snow.

Derby: July 30th – we met about 3:00 pm, toured fair. Trina thought the Derby was not very well organized. Group had fun in the mud. The club was well received and cheered when introduced. The club would like to do this next year.

Oregon Dunes: It was 68 degrees while there. Good group went and the camp was very organized this year. The sound police came around and checked the levels. The sand dunes were great; the wind blew so the dunes were smooth. Some went on a boat ride and Richard taught Alan how to drench the person sitting behind him or in front of him. There were no injuries and everyone had a great time.

Pete’s VW took 1st place at the Angels Camp car show last week. There were 150 VW’s there. The oldest was a 1950.

FUTURE RUNS: August 13 – training day has been cancelled. August 20-21 - Rubicon Work Day. August 27-28 – Barratt Lake, information is on the web. September 2-5 - Hope Valley. September 10 – Ken’s Bar B Q @ 1:00 pm. September 17 – Slick Rock and Jose’s. Thanksgiving – Dillon Beach or with Gary to Clear Creek. A fall color run by Del on October 1st is as yet to be decided where. Wes will do a Fordyce run on October 29th, it will be an overnight trip. November 12 – Bronco Canyon, Alan and Mike will be trail Bosses.

COMMENTS: There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 9:30 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

Carol Ann Whitehead
