President: President Richard Yeargan called the meeting to order at
7:35pm. He formally introduced Don Riddle as a member. Don was voted
into the club during the Hope Valley weekend. Richard reported he had a
birthday and had been doing lots of runs in his jeep.
Vice-President: Trina arrived a little late due to work.
Trea$urer: Mark reported we had $900.79 and also passed around a spread
sheet of our account activity. He wanted to recognize Jerry & Barbara
Sparkman for having made a $20.00 donation to the club “just because”.
Mike Stoller had also donated $20.00 from hat and T-shirt sales, which
Mark forgot to mention at the meeting.
Secretary: Sally offered to pass around a copy of the previous month’s
meeting minutes.
Membership: Richard reported for Ron that we voted in 2 new families
during the Hope Valley weekend. Let’s give a warm welcome to Don Riddle
and Zak & Maribel Bodle! Zak & Maribel are from the San Jose area and
will join us whenever possible.
Delegate: Del reported that a Rubicon Trail Foundation has been
established. It is IRS recognized and they are accepting donations. This
is special because the 13 board members are dedicated to the Rubicon
exclusively. FOTR will still be the workers of the Rubicon. He also
reported they are doing a presentation to thank all the folks who have
helped on the Rubicon this coming weekend. The press will be there and
there will be VIP tours. Del announced the Blue ribbon Board Meeting is
on 9/25 in Pocatello Idaho. He also wanted to remind everyone of the
Forest Service OHV ruling; the deadline is 9/13. If it is not on a map
it does not exist. Yu can be a voice by going to the Blue Ribbon
web-site and clicking on the sharetrails.com link. Give your name, the
information on the trail you are trying to save and a comment and hit
send. These trails need to be managed in order for them not to be
closed.
Correspondence: No one had a key to the mailbox. But Richard did receive
an email from Zak & Maribel thanking the club for a great time on the
Hope Valley weekend.
Old Business: Richard reported for Ron that training day may be pushed
off until spring. Trail inventory; Mike S. was not present to report but
Del spoke about it earlier. Emily wanted to let everyone know 18
families lost their homes in the fire over Labor Day weekend. She
offered to pick up any donations folks could gather around their home.
The club voted and decided to donate $100 to the fire victims.
New Business: Bronco Canyon- will run on 11/13. The tentative plan is to
go up Friday evening, stay in a nice place, get up have a comfortable
breakfast and then run the trail. Mike M. will be trail boss and also
offered to check on room rates. Contact him for more information.
Adopt-a-Trail- will run 10/23. Richard will be trail boss. Del is going
to Elko to see the fall colors from 10/1 to 10/16. It will be mainly an
SUV run. Contact Del if you would like to join him. Corral Hollow Night
Run- will run on 11/20. Mark S. will be trail boss. Thanksgiving at
Walker River Resort- 11/24 to 11/28. Mark S. called and saved a few
spots. Call now if you want to join us for Turkey Day! Christmas party-
either 12/11 or 12/18. Will be discussed at next meeting.
Past runs: Del reported on Sierra Trek 8/5; there was a 1000 people,
great turn out and he said the run was incredible. He put his tent right
by the band and won’t ever do that again! Trivecta 8/7; we had our
traditional breakfast then ran out to Round Valley. It was an easy trip
with no miss-haps and great views. We picked up a few more folks and
headed to Slick Rock. Had a great run thru there and found a great lunch
spot right on the water. We then went to explore Wolfe Creek; it was a
bit blah. FOTR 8/14-8/15 was a lot of work; they worked until 8:00pm
Friday evening. The show off of all the hard work is on 9/12. Hope
Valley 9/3-9/6; we have an unofficial count of 51 at the potluck dinner.
Thanks to all the folks who donated tents to save spots. Huge thanks to
the folks who arrived early to keep watch on the homes left unattended.
The worst happening of the weekend was Gareth blowing out his rear
locker. Calls were made Saturday morning to try to find parts for a
quick fix, but it didn’t work out. Mike M. created a quick fix with duck
tape on his truck, that’s a Toy for ya.
Ken wanted to let everyone know to arrive around 2:00pm at his house for
the BBQ.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40pm.
