short, sweet and a good showing for the club. No word yet if we won
anything. It was mentioned last year it took several weeks to get the
news. Everyone was very pleased with the nice breakfast Trina hosted.
Ron reported on the Winnemucca run. He said it was a blast, lots of fun.
He said there were about 40 rigs there and could fit more. The club
received high praise from the BLM folks for the cleanliness of our camp
set-up. They were very impressed that the two outhouses had been hauled
in. There were several mis-haps. Janice broke her ankle, Mark hurt his
already hurt back and Wes’s son-in-law broke his wrist. MLRC had 14
families present with quads. Scott, Trina, Buddy and Don & Nancy had
their rigs there. They did 130 miles of trail on Sunday! Poobah and
Gareth visited the adopt-a-trail on 5/14. A snow groomer crashed into
the gate. However they were able to get it closed. Bill England took
Judy’s place. Ranger’s Bill & George told Richard to do whatever needed
to be done since we have our own key. There is still a lot of snow and
doesn’t appear it will be clear anytime soon. Bronco Canyon: Several
folks not in Winnemucca ran Bronco Canyon on 5/29. Poobah got in touch
with Jim Frens from Sierra Stompers. Jim is a big time jeep guy and owns
“(nth)’mobility” If you haven’t already, check out his stuff at
nthdegreemobility.com Poobah has already placed his order! There were a
total of 5 rigs on the trip. We visited the pethroglyths, saw wild
horses and had a good day. Mike twisted his driveline towards the end of
the trail. It’s now replaced and ready to go back. Richard did find out
the reason the homeowners were angry at the likes of 4 wheel drivers.
They did not appreciate folks bringing their campers and rigs in there
and leaving them for days at a time. Elko: Del & Judy had a great time
in Elko but Del is positive every rock there moves. He said the
historical and ghost town stuff was great and he is going back for a
fall color trip. Kiosk move: Del was speechless (for a minute) he said
it was incredible to watch the rigs back there and hauling the building
over the granite slabs. He will be putting together a slide show. Be
sure to check out the photos on Del’s site.
