Dawgs: Michael and Atlas
Guests attending:
Ron & Carol Lee Engelbrecht and Mark Foley
DPoobah Richard Yeargan called the meeting to order and he introduced
our three guests.
Presidents Report: Poobah reported he has been quite busy and he will
cover most of his activities in past runs. He joined Don in Hollister
and was nice enough to bring home some poison oak to share with Gigi. He
had a great bit of tipsy fun on the adopt-a-trail and a sinking boat at
the trout derby at Bear River.
Vice-Presidents Report: Trina reported she had a great time at the
wedding she attended in SLO town last month. She has tried to contact
Ron Schuller regarding the Ridge Road Clean-up. She has gotten no
response from the trash program. She thinks we should look elsewhere for
volunteer work. She ran Hell Hole with Solano Trail Busters. She
reported it was a great deal of fun getting strapped both directions.
Trea$urers Report: Mark reported our current balance of $1,094.77. He
received a meat bill from Don for $41.79, which he will pay. Central
Sierra Bank will no longer waive our monthly service fee on our checking
account. So we will be closing the account and moving it to Wells Fargo.
Mike Molé will waive the monthly fee so we will have a free account.
Secretary’s Report: Sally offered to pass around a copy of last month’s
minutes for reading enjoyment. The club received a second place ribbon
for our showing in the 6/6 Italian Picnic Parade. Ron will display it
proudly. Club photo orders were delivered as well as the CD with the
photo to be blown up. She brought a copy of The Guide to No. Calif.
Backroads and 4-WD Trails for folks to look through.
Membership: Ron said membership is good. He and Richard have both
received emails from folks interested in the MLRC.
Delegate, Land Use & Conservation: Del invited anyone to attend the
district meetings, as they are hard for him to make. He pointed out they
happen in Scott’s neighborhood. They are once a quarter. The BLM of
Nevada is shutting down, closing and taking away a lot of play areas
around Virginia City, the Pine Nuts and Sand Mtn. Basically they (the
BLM of Nevada) don’t want to manage the land so they just close it. OFBA,
Blue Ribbon and Del met with Bob Abbey, the State Director of Nevada. He
is willing to work with club involvement. Del has received 50-60 sign
ups for the Rubicon this weekend. He completed his workshop at Icehouse
and it was very successful.
Correspondence: The club received our own copy of The Guide to No.
Calif. Backroads and 4-WD Trails, magazines from NRBR and United, CA4WD
District minutes for the 7/10 meeting and In Gear. Richard received an
email from a guy that Don & Ann and Mike & Sal helped rescue from the
mud pit in Hollister. He was thankful for our help and would like to see
some of the photos once they are posted on our site.
Old Business: Mike brought t-shirts. They run from $10-$18 depending on
the style you choose. He brought a few proto-type hats. They should be
available by our August meeting. They will be offered in several colors
and he will let us know on the pricing.
Club Roster & Med Cards: “Its beginning to look a lot like X-mas……” just
kidding, the new and improved roster was pasted out. Ron came through
and completed the updated roster for us. He passed out med cards for
folks to update. He said he is still working on getting the others
laminated that have been turned into him.
Ridge Road Clean up: is not flying.
Training Day: is set for 7/17. The trail will be open by 7/2. Ron will
contact the local paper to announce the novice-training day.
Trail Inventory: Mike S. and Del are thinking about working on it.
Past Runs: Mike M. reported the Sutter Creek Parade was a good day and
we received a ribbon for it. Adopt-a-trail was done by a few on 6/18.
Richard reported they had a good time; He got his jeep stuck and broke
his wench cable. The keys were turned over to the Forest Service at
their request. Richard pointed out they were concerned for security
issues. Pete reported there were no nuclear weapons found just a burn
barrel. Mike M. reported we had a fantastic time at Hollister. Don was
able to get us in Area 5 to camp and we had the whole place to
ourselves. Definitely a place to go back and explore. Kids on the Rocks
was a success. They had 40 rigs and 80 kids and all had a good time.
Mike S. reported Deer Valley Trail is looking good. He dented his jeep
on Richard’s tree.
Future Runs: Ron, Mark & Trina will be running the adopt-a-trail on
Saturday 7/3. They are meeting at Amador Station at 8am. They will
report to Del that evening if all the work is complete. If not, Del and
Don & Nancy will go on Sunday to complete the work. If the work is done
Wes my have a group running with him off I80. Carol Lee is hosting a
potluck on 7/4. They will be going to Charles Mitchell Winery to bottle
their own wine and then back to her place to drink it! Destruction Derby
is 7/25. There are enough rigs. Buddy will email in response to the
questions about early staging. Del will be attending Sierra Trek on 8/5.
That is also DPoobah’s Birthday!!!!!!! Trivecta is running on 8/7. FOTR
work weekend is 8/14 & 8/15. Del said no motor homes, tent camping only.
But there are nice facilities there. BBQ at Mike & Tami’s on 8/29 for a
house warming/welcoming. No gifts, just yourselves. Labor Day Weekend
9/3-9/6 Hope Valley and we will night run on Saturday and potluck on
Sunday. BBQ at Ken Ketterling’s on 9/18. Doran Beach 10/8-10/10 call now
spots are going fast.
CA4WD dues were overlooked. Ron checked and they said we could mail it
tomorrow. He read off the names needing to pay.
The motion was made by Mark to adjourn and seconded by Pete. Dpoobah
Richard adjourned the meeting.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
